Our mission
The Isbourne Hub's mission is to bring together and support an inspiring community of language teaching colleagues. Our deeply-held view is that language learning is transformative; opening minds and doors to a world of other possibilities.
In the words of a Czech proverb, we believe that you lead a new life for every language you speak. An asset for all, we seek to help schools to harness, recognise and celebrate the value of every language and culture represented in their school community.
Through bespoke and universal CPD, sharing of good practice and the promotion of cultural-capital building opportunities, we aim to tackle head-on the challenge of motivating teenage language learners and bridge the aspiration gap from GCSE to A-Level. Working in partnership with the NCLE network we will be supporting our partner hub schools, and the wider MFL teaching community in Gloucestershire, the Forest of Dean and West Oxfordshire, to implement the recommendations of the 2016 Modern Languages' Pedagogy review and boost attainment in, and the profile of MFL in the region.
“To have another language is to possess a second soul.”
